4 начина да подготвите детето ви за първи път на зъболекар

4 ways to prepare your child for the first time at the dentist

Dental hygiene starts at home

Brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing – this is what we need to teach our children from an early age. Give them a good example when it comes to practicing oral hygiene. Make it a part of your daily routine so that your children get used to taking care of their teeth on their own.

Discuss the procedure in advance

Talk about the things that are done in the dental office. You can also show them pictures of the dental instruments they may encounter during their visit. You can also bring a child’s favorite object / toy – this will certainly reduce stress and create a sense of security.

Turn it into a game!

At home, ask your children to open their mouths so you can look inside. Whoever manages to keep his mouth open for the longest time wins. Another option is to offer them a special reward if they manage to follow the instructions during the visit.

Allow time to prepare

Welcome to the clinic a little earlier. This way they will have time to get acquainted with the situation and get used to it before sitting down on the chair. Ask the dentist to introduce himself in person so that your children do not feel threatened by a stranger. Stay with them during the procedure and do not forget to stay calm. Your children will feel it right away if you feel anxious.

How the first dental examination of your children will go will lay the foundations for each one! So, let’s try to make it as enjoyable as possible!

What are the benefits of visiting your dentist for a checkup at least every 6 months?

Early diagnosis of tooth decay – The main reason to visit your dentist regularly is to avoid dental problems such as tooth decay and gum problems. At first they may seem insignificant, but over time they can develop into something more serious.

Clean teeth – you probably know that we need to brush our teeth and floss them twice a day. But sometimes that’s not enough to keep them looking good. Your dentist will show you the right and effective way to clean and remove tartar.

Diagnosis of severe dental disease – National Health Institutions report that several thousand people suffer from oral cancer each year. Fortunately, early diagnosis of this disease can help you save your life. Oral cancer is known to spread rapidly, but can be easily counteracted if detected early.

Gum disease – Some eating habits can lead to gum disease, which in turn can lead to the loss of healthy teeth and other serious health problems. Regular visits to the dentist will allow him to diagnose early gum problems.
